Facilities, Staff, and Location

OSU Marine Geology Repository

The describing laboratory (pictured here), completed in 1994, includes facilities for curation and sampling as well as a 36,000 cubic foot refrigerator to house the OSU sediment core collection.

The following facilities and equipment are available to users of the repository (in some cases at cost):

GEOTEK Multi-Sensor Core Logger (MSCL)
Core density, magnetic susceptibility, p-wave velocity and resistivity is measure on whole or split cores.

This instrument is available on a charge basis. System is housed in a sea going van and availabiility is dependant on sea schedule.

Staff

Two directors manage the repository. Dr. Nicklas Pisias is responsible for sediment cores and Dr. Robert Duncan is responsible for the rock collection. Please contact one of the Assistant Core Curators, Ms. Bobbi Conard or Ms. Mysti Weber, with any questions concerning the day-to-day operation of the marine geology repository.

Location

The Marine Geology Repository is located in the College of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences complex on the corner of 30th St. and SW Western Avenue, Corvallis OR.
