Introduction

The marine sediment and rock collection at the OSU Marine Geology Repository comes from all oceans. As of 2003 it contains over 13,000 meters of sediment from 5061 cores, more than 14,700 rocks from 509 dredges, 2200 Manganese Nodules and 1537 sediment trap and 693 plankton tow samples. In recent years, we have distributed about 12,000 samples per year to scientists throughout the world.

How to Request Samples

To obtain samples for research or museum display purposes:

  • First decide which samples you wish to study.

  • Next, please read the OSU Sample Distribution Policy.

  • Finally, submit your sample request with appropriate documentation by mail, fax, or E-mail:
